Basic screen printing course from A to Z
You can learn the basics of the screen-printing process in our print workshop.
This course enables you to screen print in the ZAM print workshop – during our regular opening hours.
You will learn the following:
Introduction to Screen Printing
What is screen printing and how does the technique work?
Preparing the Design
We start with creating the screen-printing film (stencil). For this, you will need a graphic design as a template for printing.
You will learn how to set up Photoshop for raster graphic output.
Preparing the Screen
A design is transferred onto a stencil (screen). The screen is coated with a UV-sensitive emulsion and then exposed.
You will learn: coating, exposing, washing out.
Preparing for Printing
Aligning the design: The frame with the design is positioned and adjusted.
You will learn: screen alignment, masking, frame distance.
Printing the Design
The printing ink is pulled evenly across the design with a squeegee.
You will learn: applying ink, choosing colors, squeegee pressure, printing workflow.
After Treatment
The ink must dry and then be heat-fixed.
Cleaning the Screen
After use, the screen is cleaned, de-coated, and degreased.
About the Ink
We use water-based textile inks for the printing process – free of toxic solvents.

Materials
The fee includes test prints on paper and one fabric print per person.
Additional costs will be charged according to materials and consumption, based on our price list.
